This LP contains a live performance from early in altoist Art Pepper's career in which he is joined by pianist Sonny Clark, Harry Babasin on bass and cello, and drummer Bobby White. Recorded at the legendary Lighthouse, the music is better than the recording quality. Pepper and Clark have many fine solos on the six standards, and Gershwin & Gershwin's "'S Wonderful," but Vol. 1 (there never was a Vol. 2) is strictly for collectors.
