The „Pilatus-Suite is a development of the work Albin Brun tackled first with «Pilatus» (Altrisuoni AS 078), his solo CD recorded with overdub techniques. He arranged some of these pieces for the quintet and added new compositions merging them all into a suite. The music is inspired by the Pilatus-massif in central Switzerland, the tunes are named after various places on the mountain. It is an open-minded personal “mountain-music” between Jazz, traditional alpine music and improvisation.
Live performances of this suite are accompanied by slide projections of pictures shot by the photographer Jean-Pierre Grüter – but the music is evocative enough to conjure up your own pictures, too. Bruns “Pilatus”-project is awarded with several prizes.
