The "Victory Disks" or "V-Discs" were recorded for the U.S. War Department between 1943 and 1948. A Total of 904 78-Rpm discs were released containing over 2700 Tracks. All the great american Artists of the time contributed in this way to the war effort. These discs were sent in packs of 20 on the european and asian fronts. After the war the matrixes were destroyed by Major Howard C. Bronson, following pressure by the american federation of musicians, which had permitted their members to record their work without fees. Fortunatly many of the original discs had made their way into private collections....
